I have been missing in action from this Blog lately…We have had a lot going on and I have not taken a second to record it.
Love is in the Air
My sisters are engaged! Reini is engaged to Chris Crossen and Naomi is going to marry her long time sweetheart AJ Garcia. There is at least one other engagement that I know of but I’m not at liberty to disclose who it is! And Albert and Azu will marry in Spain on June 26!!
Commencement and Matriculation all in the same summer
Scott is in the midst of his last class to finish his English Creative Writing Degree at SFSU and then will start a Communications Masters Program at BYU in August. It will be a great chance to augment his love of storytelling and his years of experience in New Media with a researched understanding of the methods of mass communication. BYU’s department is involved with the production of The Ensign and other church publications so that should be interesting to learn about as well. And as my mom said, the family that studies together starves together.
The Golden Gate Ward Diaspora
As we get ready to move away to Provo, behind the Zion Curtain as they say, I am struck by how wonderful this time in San Francisco has been…. We have been surrounded by amazing people who have brought love and laughter into our lives and inspired us to be our best selves. After all, where would be without Settlers of Catan and Halo? But really as we think about the McBaine-Smiths going to Bentonville, Arkansa, The Kokonoviches in Phoenix or maybe here in SF?!, and Reini and Chris going to Tahoe or Bishop or Crested Butte Colorado, there is a sense of great joy to have been here in this beautiful city at this precious intersection of time. We will miss everyone and to quote Mark, look forward to “soaking up as much time with these friends as we can.” And We look forward to carrying the friendships into the future— email is a wonderful thing— and also to opportunities to cross paths with people again like the Brubakers who will be in Salt Lake City next year, woohoo!
