Today, just a quick Sundays-With-Scott thought.
We were taught today by a sweet woman we call Sister Mack who told us about obedience. According to one simple story she told, she was asked to run a race when she was in junior high. She was taller than the other girls, and fast, so her teacher said she should run the race for the school.
She obeyed. She won the race.
After the race, her teacher chastised her. Sister Mack said “but I won the race!” The teacher said, “yes, but you didn’t do all you could.” Apparently she could have run faster.
So, says Sister Mack, “do all you can and THEN you win.”
A great lesson in not just doing enough to “win”. In fact, even if someone else finishes in front of you, if you’ve really done your best, you’ve won.
