A website about… ME?? Heaven help us.
Actually, it’s not as strange as it sounds. I’ve been meaning to put my resume and creative products all in one place so I can point potential clients and employers there. I built it using Joomla, a content management system (CMS). For those of you who aren’t familiar, a CMS is the tool that most large web sites use to publish material. It works like this: someone who has some content, like a new article or a photo, will go to an administration area of a web site and enter in the content. They click publish and, bang, it goes live. The next time a visitor goes to the web site, they’ll see the new content.
The key is that it’s easy and anyone can do it. You don’t have to be a web developer or programmer. That’s how the blogging movement gained so much momentum. Bloggers use CMS tools (like the one I’m using right now) to quickly publish new material.
