The New Pixelshot – From Classic to Mysterious!

caption

From the classic red, to the mysterious gray, Pixelshot puts on a new face.

This is a big day for me. I’ve been working on a new site design for more than a month, and here it is at last. Indulge me for a moment as I describe some of the new bells and whistles:

A Focus on Images

Okay, I loved the classic red background–it was hard to ditch–but the colors sometimes clashed with the images. I have been trying to take the site into a more image-centric direction, so the red had to go. The gray background lets the image pop, and also allows for a larger image size – bonus points! So now, you’ll be able to feel the emotion of the images, and get further immersed in the video… or, at least that’s what I tell the investors (i.e. my wife).

Featured Space

You’ll notice that the site takes on a magazine-style interface with featured spots at the top of the page. Don’t worry, all of the blog options still apply, just remember to look at the “Latest Posts” just under the main area to see, well, the latest posts. You won’t be sorry.

Not Just a Pretty Face

While certainly you’ll all notice the new color scheme, you may not notice many of the changes under the hood. The “back end” of the site, as the web geeks like to refer to it, has many improvements. Still using WordPress for the CMS engine, the new site allows for new features such as the embedded video you see on the right column, as well as the new navigation (found on the top menu).

And a much requested feature: A SEARCH FUNCTION that works (in the top menu bar)!

You’ll also notice new options for sharing articles (more on this later) and for staying in touch with Pixelshot (see the icons on the right column).

Also, I can add more features as time permits. Widgets are a wonderful thing!

Thumbnails Everywhere

A quick browse of the site shows that there are lots of thumbnails. I’m a visual person, so I expect everyone else to be also! I’ve made it easier to find articles based on a visual cue rather than on only a title.

At the moment, you’ll see lots of these images in the thumbnail spot:

That means that I haven’t had a chance to add a thumbnail for that article (post) yet. That’s a new requirement with the new design. Be patient, I’ll get to it!

Work In Progress

Of course, there are more features to come, and you may see glitches from time to time. But please keep coming and SHARE the site with anyone you can. This is my main professional focus at the moment, so I am asking for your support. If you have any problems/comments/whatever – leave a comment below!

Thank you – and ENJOY!!
