Yesterday was R's birthday. So, we took the afternoon and hit a local museum. After an uncomfortable run-in with one of the docents, we moved on to the modern art section and spotted this gem by Sol LeWitt. Happy B-day Robin! (iPhone 3gs)

It's not every day you get to meet a shepherd. Well, this wasn't an average day. This shot was taken on our beloved Camino walk through northern Spain. This man was kind enough to pose for a photo. I did not get the consent of the sheep, however. (Canon PowerShot SD110)

It's crunch time with the Hudson project, so I've been going through lots of photos from my trips to NY. This one grabbed me. It's taken on Huguenot Street in New Paltz, NY. The street is an early Dutch settlement of French Huguenots who fled to the Netherlands, then to America, in the 18th century. Very cool place.

This is the view from the top of the obelisk marking the place where British General John Burgoyne surrendered to American General Horatio Gates following the battle of Saratoga. I visited the site recently and grabbed this shot through the upstairs window.

A few years ago, Robin and I took a trip to Poland. One of my favorite things about Europe is the beautiful cobblestone that lines many of the streets and walkways. This cobblestone path lies in what used to be a Jewish neighborhood of Warsaw. Sadly, the neighborhood was destroyed and burned during the war.

While exploring the inland from the North Florida coast in 1528, an expedition including Cabeza de Vaca (cow's head?) found a native American village they called Apalacian. Soon after, the mountain range running north through the eastern U.S. inherited it's name. Nowadays, the range is a great place for sightseeing and, yes, even rock climbing. As I have had the good fortune of exploring the Hudson valley, I have to say the favorite place I visited last week was actually not in the Hudson valley. Twice I took the opportunity to explore the Mohawk river valley (the Mohawk dumps into the Hudson at Albany). What is so striking about this river is how peaceful it is, in spite of its size. I could feel the ghosts of the Mohawk indians and the Dutch and English settlers who once lived there. (Canon 5D Mark II)
