It's not every day you get to meet a shepherd. Well, this wasn't an average day. This shot was taken on our beloved Camino walk through northern Spain. This man was kind enough to pose for a photo. I did not get the consent of the sheep, however. (Canon PowerShot SD110)

On El Camino de Santiago de Compostella, in northern Spain, this determined man with his bad leg and cane walks the historic pilgrim's trail "poco a poco." This photo comes with a good story (below). (Canon PowerShot SD110)

Although this may not be one of the most aesthetically pleasing photos in my collection, I consider it among the most inspiring. In August of 2005, Robin and I set off on a trek across part of northern Spain. We followed hundreds of other “pilgrims” on a ninth century pilgrim’s trail to Santiago, Spain. We walked 120 kilometers in 5 days. It was an amazing, yet challenging, experience. Closing in on Santiago, we passed this man who was walking the Camino. We walked with him for a few minutes and learned that he has a non-functioning leg. Yet, he was determined to walk the last 100k of the Camino. “How?” we asked in our broken Spanish.

“Poco a poco” he said… little by little.
